Are video games harmful to children ?

I do not know about his family, but my family members love playing video games, especially those involving large quantities of weapons and blood. It's not just my kids who are addicted to them, also my husband (sigh). While trying to stop their game of hide for the driver, rolling his eyes, and put them to complete all homework and chores before playing, none of this has diminished his love of video games. The only thing that has made me the mother is average.
So are video games harmful? I'm no expert, but here are my observations.
You can play video games because my child to be obese? Spend long periods of time playing these games is reduced physical activity and is likely to increase the risk of obesity. But if your children, like mine, are heavily involved in team sports and other physical activities, not so much a concern. However, if your children are active and spend most of their free time playing video games and eating junk food during the game, you might consider reducing or stopping altogether.
You can play video games because my son is violent? I have not seen increased violence in my children as a result of video games. Perhaps the reason is because they are too busy around to rest on the front of the console game to go child beating of neighbor! In any case, have not gotten into trouble yet, so I do not believe that cause violence.
You can play video games reduced academic performance? Look, if your child spends time playing video games instead of doing homework, studying or reading, then it can hurt their academic performance. However, if your child is told in no uncertain terms that these games are not allowed until the work is completed school and is much more important and should always come first, the game is unlikely to have an impact negative. It all depends on how much your child is playing and if their priorities are set straight.
You can play video games that my child antisocial? It depends. I guess if you spend long hours alone in a dark room, which is certainly possible. However, my children, they often invite their friends home to play these games together, so it is a social activity. And even if they are friends, my are often playing multiplayer games remotely with their friends or talk to friends through a headset while playing the game.
While parents like me complaining about video games, there are actually some advantages to playing them. In fact, playing with them can improve hand-eye coordination, promote problem solving and logic, attention to detail, quick thinking, decision making, memory, and following instructions. Moreover, strategy games like Age of Empires (a favorite of my family) can teach players to manage resources, build cities, and arouse their interest in historical figures.
Anything can be harmful if done excessively. While my family playing the game in moderation, can continue. Believe me, there are far worse things you could do with their time. In addition, your children may be aspiring video game testers and designers, in which case you might as well give them an advantage in their future career.
